Sound familiar?

Reading time has turned into a tug-of-war.

“They guess at words instead of sounding them out.”

“Homework ends in tears — theirs or yours.”

“The teacher says they're “a little behind,” and you're not sure how to help at home.”

This is common in the early grades, and it's very fixable. Kids this age don't need pressure — they need clear steps, lots of practice, and an adult who has seen it all before.

Why work with me

A real classroom teacher — not a learning app.

  • I know what K–4 classrooms expect.

Two decades in public schools means I understand what your child is being asked to do — and how to bridge the gap.

  • Young readers are my focus.

I don't tutor every subject. I work with early readers, where strong habits matter most.

  • Local and personal.

I live and work in the Houston area, and I treat every student like one of my own classroom kids.
